How to use Skej on Slack

Learn how to DM and use Skej with your team on Slack

Updated over 3 months ago

If you still need to install Skej in your Slack workspace, follow the installation guide here. If Skej is already installed, here’s how to start using it to schedule meetings and manage your calendar.

Add Skej to a channel

If you want Skej to help schedule across your Slack workspace, you need to add the Slack handle @Skej as a member in your Slack channels.

Add Skej to any channel where you want scheduling support — department, general, or private channels.

How to get Skej's attention

Skej can’t read every message in your Slack. To get its attention, you’ll need to mention @Skej directly.

  • If you tag Skej in a new message in a channel, Skej only sees that message (not earlier history).

  • If you tag Skej inside a thread, it will see the prior messages in that thread and can use them for context.”

Internal Meetings

If your coworkers are Skej users too, scheduling is instant. Skej checks everyone’s availability, buffers, and preferences to autobook a time.

  • Works in group DMs, public channels, or private channels.

  • Just tag the people you want in the meeting (@Alex @Taylor) or use @channel if you want everyone.”

Skej will respond back once the task is complete.

Mutual Availability

Not ready to book yet? Ask Skej to show overlapping availability across people, time zones, and calendars.

DMing Skej 1-1

You can chat with Skej just like you would with a teammate. To open a DM with Skej:

  1. Go to the Slack sidebar (where your channels are).

  2. Scroll down to the Apps section and click the Skej icon.

  3. A message page will open where you can type directly to Skej.

From there, you can ask Skej to:

  • Schedule a meeting
“Schedule a meeting with Sarah next week.”

→ Skej will confirm which contact you want to schedule with and email Sarah on your behalf.

  • Reschedule a meeting
“Move my 3pm meeting to tomorrow at the same time.”

→ Skej will reschedule your meeting and notify the participants.

  • Check your calendar
    “What’s on my schedule today?”

→ Skej will text you back with your schedule for the day

  • Get reminders & agendas
→ Skej can text you your daily agenda
→ Skej can send you reminders before each meeting

  • Make changes
    “Cancel my lunch with John.”
“Change my call with Alex to 4pm.”

  • Running late

“Let everyone in my upcoming meeting know I'm running 10 min late because the subway is delayed.”

→ Skej will email everyone in the meeting to let them know.

  • Add to calendar

→ Send Skej any screenshot, photo, or just text existing event details and Skej will automatically add the event on your calendar.
