Custom Event Titles

Customize the default event title created by your assistant

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Skej automatically creates clear, descriptive calendar event titles for you.

Now, you can fully customize how those titles look—using flexible variables and your own text—so events appear exactly the way you want on your calendar.

Go to the Details tab of your preferences in order to set this up.

You can create separate defaults for both:

  • External events (with people outside your organization)

  • Internal events (with teammates only)

How Event Titles Work

Event titles are built from:

  • Variables (dynamic fields like names & companies)

  • Static text (anything you type yourself: punctuation, labels, separators, etc.)

Skej will automatically swap variables with real values when the event is created.

External vs. Internal Event Titles

You’ll see two tabs at the top of the Event Titles page:

  • External – events with at least one external contact

  • Internal – events with only people from your organization

Each tab has its own rules and formats, so you can keep internal meetings short while making external ones more descriptive.

External Event Title Scenarios

For external events, Skej lets you define formats for different attendee counts. You can simply type in a title, and add or subtract and variables you want. If Skej doesn't have a required variable, it will leave it blank.

1. You + 1 Attendee

Example preview:

Jane Doe (TechCorp) / Justin Canetti (Skej) (via ⚡ Skej)

Common variables:

  • Attendee Full Name

  • Attendee Company

  • Your Full Name

  • Your Company

Use this format for 1:1 meetings like sales calls, interviews, or introductions.

2. You + 2 Attendees

Useful variables:

  • Attendee Full Name (primary external contact)

  • 2nd Attendee Full Name

  • Attendee Company

  • Your Full Name

  • Your Company

This is ideal when you want to list names clearly without clutter.

3. You + Many Attendees (3+)

Useful variables:

  • Attendee Full Name (primary external contact)

  • Number of Attendees

This keeps larger meetings readable while still giving context.

Internal Event Titles

Internal events follow the same concept but typically use simpler formats, since company context is already known.

Examples of titles users often create:

  • 1:1 – Attendee Full Name

  • Team Sync – Attendee Full Name + Number of Attendees

  • Internal / Attendee Full Name

You have full control over how detailed (or minimal) these are and you can set them up based on how many people are in the meeting.

Using Variables

How to Insert Variables

  • Click on meeting title, and then select a variable chip from below to insert it

  • Variables are color-coded so you can easily see what’s dynamic

  • You can mix variables and text freely

Example:

Intro Call – (Attendee Full Name) - (Attendee Company)

Formatting Tips & Best Practices

Keep titles scannable

  • Use separators like /, , or |

  • Avoid listing too many names for large meetings

External events

  • Including company names is helpful

Internal events

  • Shorter is usually better

  • Focus on clarity rather than metadata

Don’t worry about edge cases

  • Skej automatically chooses the correct format based on attendee count

  • Missing data (like company name) is omitted

What Happens After You Save

  • Your formats become the default for all new events Skej schedules

  • Existing calendar events are not changed

  • You can update these settings anytime
